POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a research analyst for Deloitte’s Multistate (MTS) Tax Group, you will be part of a team that is responsible for research and analysis for a variety of state and local tax issues for all 50 US states, and multiple local taxing municipalities and jurisdictions.



RESPONSIBILITIES:



- Research and analyze tax documents utilizing relevant computer research tools

- Achievement of familiarity with hierarchy of authoritative support and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws

- Develop and further knowledge of core accounting and Federal and state tax knowledge to effectively and efficiently analyze multistate tax issues

- Draft tax research memorandum that includes relevant facts, analysis and conclusions

- Working with in collaboration with MTS personnel to deliver a high quality product in an efficient manner.

- Possess knowledge of and skills with the appropriate tax research databases

- Assist in the preparation of matrices, tax manuals, spreadsheets and other related materials to document research performed


Desired Profile: 
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:



1. A bachelor’s degree in law, commerce, accounting, business or a related field, or equivalent combination of work experience and education to meet the requirements of the position

2. Excellent organizational, analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills

3. Strong verbal and written communication skills

4. Strong experience (2-5 years preferred) utilizing online information technical accounting and legal services including, but not limited to: LexisNexis, Commerce Clearing House (CCH), State Tax Notes, BNA Online, RIA Online and other Tax Management Software;

5. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret statutes, regulations and rulings

6. Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS-Word, MS Excel, MS Access and Adobe Acrobat;

7. Demonstrated experience handling multiple tasks simultaneously and working with changing priorities in a complex business environment;

8. A positive attitude and the ability to work with little or no direct on site supervision

9. Proven ability to be a team player and work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
